LAKELAND, Fla. – William Allen, candidate for the District 1 seat of the Polk County School Board, is pleased to announce the community supporters for his 2024 Polk County School Board campaign.
The committee includes a strong coalition of current and former Polk elected officials, educators, business leaders, philanthropists, and public education advocates who urge Polk County voters to elect William Allen in 2024.
“My wife and I are humbled to have the support of a such a broad and robust representation of local leaders who believe in continuing the great work of Polk County Public Schools,” said Allen.
“My first term on the board has been some of the most fulfilling work within my educational experiences. I’m proud to say we have accomplished quite a bit. We hired, in my opinion, the best Superintendent in the state. The board set five long-term goals. The district is in the early stages of executing on these goals and I look forward to seeing them through..”

William is an experienced educator with 17+ years experience.
About William Allen: William Allen is a Bartow native, a Lakeland resident, and has been married 21 years to Jill Allen. They have two children in Polk County public schools and one daughter studying at Florida Southern College. He is tenured associate professor of interactive and game design at Florida Southern College. As a graduate of Polk County Public Schools and professional educator, Allen has a deep-rooted zeal for the Polk education system. His vision is to help make Polk County’s school system one of the greatest and strongest pillars of hope within the community. Besides his more than 15 years of educational experience, Allen is an active documentarian and media researcher. He recently served as a grant reviewer with the National Science Foundation’s Interactive division.
